EastEnders' Ben Mitchell faces death as he's rushed to hospital after collapse

EastEnders' Ben Mitchell is at risk of losing his life next week as he collapses and is rushed to hospital.

The mechanic has been struggling in the wake of Lewis' terrifying attack on him and the break up of his marriage with Callum. He has since turned to drugs in a bid to cope, falling into the wrong crowd as he tries to self-medicate his trauma.

Next week, James stays the night with Ben, with mum Kathy unimpressed by the fact. The pair discuss plans for later, but Kathy is quick to remind Ben that Lexi has a dance exam he said he'd go to, and there's also a family meal after.

Later, Ben is at the Minute Mart as Suki and Kheerat walk in, her still desperate to reconcile with her son. Last week, Ben had confessed to causing the death of Jags by calling off his prison protection, and whilst the whole Panesar family was left reeling from that alone, they were even more devastated to find out Suki was why Jags was in prison.

Ben tries to speak to Kheerat but he is having none of it and the mechanic heads off to Lexi's dance exam, which he is already late for. She is hurt by his delay and things get even worse when she admits she is missing her old dad.

Her comment leaves Ben devastated and he snaps at her, making her cry. As he tries to deal with his own actions, he looks to score some more drugs from Tez, but not before a concerned Sam notices.

Heading to a party, Ben takes more drugs - but James sends him home. He realises he's late for the family dinner, and leaves her an emotional voicemail telling her he is on his way. But as he makes his way there, he collapses.

Lexi is devastated that Ben hasn't arrived and when they discover the voicemail, they all realise something is very wrong. Callum and Jay rush with Kathy to try and find Ben, and their worst fears are realised when they find him with no pulse.

Paramedics rush him to hospital, but have they got to him in time - and will they be able to save him?
