The body - which delivers sport, leisure, arts and culture services - managed to battle its way through a long process with many other leisure organisations up and down the country who were in the running.

The award is given to organisations for their commitment and dedication to aquatics as they look to provide a support network for people learning to swim.

The top three clubs are invited along to the Scottish Swimming Awards on September 24 in Edinburgh. The winner that is chosen will be presented with a trophy at the awards night, £300 of Scottish Swimming Education vouchers and a club visit from an Olympic or Paralympic athlete.

The second and third place clubs will be presented with an award certificate and £200 of Scottish Swimming Education vouchers.

Memberships for the Renfrewshire Leisure organisation offer a range of swimming lessons from kids, up to adult lessons which teach valuable life lessons on how to survive in the water.

The two other finalists going up against the East Renfrewshire team are West Lothian Leisure and Fife Sports and Leisure Trust.

Robert Hammond, head of operations at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: "We are delighted to be nominated for this national award.

"We want to thank our team who have worked so hard to adopt and deliver the Learn to Swim programme in recent years, as well as our partners at Scottish Swimming and Scottish Water for their support.

"We also want to thank our fantastic swimmers of all ages for their fantastic participation in and out of the pool.

"We will continue to develop our Learn to Swim programme to ensure the delivery of the best quality programme for young swimmers and teaching essential life skills for the long term."
