East Midlands Railway services disrupted after person hit by train

East Midlands Railway (EMR) services were disrupted today (April 25) after a person was hit by a train. The incident happened on the East Midlands Railway line between Stoke-on-Trent and Derby.

East Midlands Railway reported the incident around 6.38pm on Tuesday (April 25). The incident happened on the line between Crewe and Newark which stops at Nottingham.

EMR worked on providing replacement buses for stations between Stoke-on-Trent and Derby as services were affected. People were also advised to use alternative services between Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent.

East Midlands Railway said: “We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train between Stoke-on-Trent and Derby. We are working on providing rail replacement buses for stations between Stoke-on-Trent and Derby. You may use alternative services between Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent.

“If you are travelling between Crewe, Stoke-on-Trent, Derby and Nottingham you may use alternative services via Birmingham and Tamworth to complete your journey.”

EMR added: "Emergency services are now at the scene managing the incident between Stoke on Trent and Derby. We will have rail replacement buses in place at Derby and Stoke on Trent by 20:30."
