East Lothian residents fume as vile graffiti scrawled on primary school bus stop

Furious East Lothian residents have hit out after “vile” graffiti was left on a bus stop outside a local school.

The Musselburgh bus stop on Newbigging had been found tarnished with the offensive paragraph on Thursday, January 5, situated just a few metres from Loretto RC Primary School.

Brandished across the plastic panels in bold red writing, those responsible had written: “If you are depressed, kill yourself, ha ha.”

Sprayed on top of a different piece of graffiti which had stated ‘Be Strong’, residents were quick to hit out at the “horrible vile writing” which they claimed could have a serious impact.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, one resident said: I think it’s really important something is done and that this is taken seriously because this is the extent people are going to now.

"It appears graffiti isn’t something that’s taken seriously and never has because it’s everywhere it appears to be something normal just to graffiti everywhere but this specific message I saw this morning really has to be removed and to whoever done it needs to understand that is not okay.

"I was really upset to see it as someone who suffers mental health anybody who’s in that very low mind set who may be feeling suicidal or feel like giving up that is the last message they want to be seeing and especially outside a primary school where the younger children will look at that.

"It may not seem a big deal to some people but to many of us it is a big deal."
