An East Lothian man has been convicted for a spate of child sex offences including two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child.
Andrew Fairley, originally from Musselburgh, was sentenced to eight years in prison at Carlisle Crown court on July 1. Fairley was said by police to have “used his position of trust to exploit his victims for his own fulfilment.”
The 58-year-old was accused of a series of serious child sex offences including causing a child under 13 to watch an image of sexual activity, engaging in sexual communications with a child and inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity. He was also convicted for engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and sexual assault on a male.

The two counts of engaging sexual activity with a child relate to incidents that date back as far as 2006 and 2011 in the English village of Rowrah. The Musselburgh local committed the crimes on a karting trip to the village while working at Larkhall-based Clan Racing Team.
Detective Sergeant Tom Windridge said “Fairley used his position of trust to exploit his victims for his own fulfilment. Today’s result show that we are committed to protecting children from sexual abuse.
“Our specialist officers work together in partnership with support agencies across Cumbria to investigate and bring perpetrators of these horrific crimes before the courts.
"I encourage anyone who has concerns that a child might be a victim of online child sexual exploitation or abuse to contact us”
