A woman was injured by flying glass when a mirror was smashed by her former partner during a domestic row.
Charles Harvey, of Crawford Hill, East Kilbride, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.
The 40-year-old admitted assaulting his ex and stealing two rings at her home in Larkfield Court, Blantyre, on June 14 last year.
Neil Thomson, prosecuting, said the couple's three-year relationship was over at the time, but they met up.
He told the court: "They had a dispute but still went back to the complainer's home.
"The bickering escalated and they were grappling with each other.
"Harvey punched the complainer and knocked over a mirror that fell on to her and fragmented.
"This caused a superficial laceration to her arm and she also had minor swelling and bruising.
"Harvey was placed under arrest and police officers found two rings belonging to his ex-partner in his back pocket."
Harvey was on bail at the time for a domestic offence involving another woman.
After his arrest in June last year he was held in custody for nine months until he was granted bail at a court hearing in March.
Sheriff Thomas Millar said that, given the length of time the accused had spent in prison, he would impose a non-custodial sentence.
Referring to a criminal justice social work report, the sheriff said it seemed a supervision order "would assist".
Harvey was placed under supervision for a year and is banned from contacting his ex-partner during that period under a non-harassment order.
