Former East Kilbride Thistle boss Alan Paterson will be laid to rest this week after his tragic death last month at the age of just 44.
The much-loved ex-Showpark player, was a popular figure around the town through his day job as a postal worker for Royal Mail and was respected across the local football community for his spells at the Jags, Lowland League East Kilbride FC and amateur outfit East Kilbride YM, where his brother Ian is currently assistant manger of the Greater Glasgow Premier League team.
And Alan's shock death on Tuesday, September 20 has left all who knew him devastated. He is survived by his partner Julie and their sons Kian, 6, and Aiden, 10.
His family has announced his funeral will be held on Thursday at Linn Crematorium, G45 9SP, at 3pm, then back to the Murray Bar in East Kilbride for his wake. The family has requested that no flowers be brought.
A fundraising page set up for his family has so far raised over £21,000. You can still donate here.
