East Kilbride Thistle sacked manager Garry O'Hanlon last night after less than four months in charge.
And angry O'Hanlon has taken a pop at the "snakes" whom he alleges had a role in his exit.
The former Jags player and coach took the job on in May following Alan Paterson's exit as boss, which came off the back of Paterson suffering a violent assault in the town that left him scarred for life.
O'Hanlon and assistant manager Aaron Connolly assembled a squad of experienced players including ex-Stranraer and EKFC striker Jamie Longworth, former Montrose midfielder David Gray and ex-Albion Rovers and EKFC defender Barry Russell.
There were high hopes for the squad this season with Russell stating the club were setting their sights on the league title, but after a decent start to the campaign, the wheels have fallen off in recent weeks with the Jags going on a run where they conceded 18 goals in three games.
Last month, an 8-1 Junior Cup exit to Glenafton followed 6-1 and 4-1 thrashings in the league at the hands of Larkhall Thistle and Lanark United, respectively.
A 1-0 defeat to Vale of Clyde with 10 men last weekend appeared to show a steadying of the ship, but that has proved to be O'Hanlon's last game in charge with the dreaded phone call coming his way from Jags chiefs.
Last night, he took to social media to reveal he had been let go, over an hour before the West of Scotland League Third Division side officially announced his exit on their social media pages.
At 5.50pm, O'Hanlon posted: "Never a nice phonecall to take but ultimately results not been good enough. Good luck for the future EK Thistle."
He later added: "Appreciate all the messages... phone's been a bit mental. Long-term pals who joined us and wanted to help the club.
"Seven years at the club done and dusted, not surprised tbh [to be honest] as been stitched up by two snakes."
It is not clear who O'Hanlon is referring to in his post.
Thistle's statement just after 7pm read: "The club regrets to announce the departure of manager Garry O’Hanlon.
"We thank Garry for all his effort at the club and wish him the best for the future."
Thistle are currently 13th in the 19-team Third Division with just one win from their opening seven games.
Jags skipper Barry Russell admits the players need to shoulder some of the blame for recent results, replying to O'Hanlon's initial post: "Keep the head up mate! Not your fault… we as players didn’t do enough for you."
Thistle had been due to host Darvel in the South Challenge Cup on Saturday before all senior football was postponed as a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 96.
A home clash with Carluke Rovers in the league is up next up Saturday.
It is understood assistant boss Connolly will take the team at present, while the Jags decide on their next steps.
