East Kilbride seal forward duo in stunning signing coup

East Kilbride Thistle have sealed the stunning double signings of Sean Winter and Craig Hastings.

Former Stranraer and East Kilbride striker Winter officially retired after leaving Lowland League side Cumbernauld Colts last season.

But Jags boss Gary O’Hanlon has managed to persuade the veteran to pull his boots back on next season.

EK Thistle have also added talented winger Craig Hastings from Shotts Bon Accord and O’Hanlon is delighted to secure the services of two experienced stars.

He said: “Sean Winter has signed – that’s absolutely massive for us.

“I know most of the boys that I’m bringing in. I’ve played with them during my career, they’re my friends, so I know that we’ve got a good squad.

“We probably needed a bit of experience. I just chanced by arm with Sean because he obviously retired last season from Cumbernauld Colts.

“With the signings that I’ve made, I think he was quite encouraged. I don’t want to speak on his behalf but I thought I’d test the water and we’ve managed to bring him in.

“Craig Hastings will also join from Shotts and he’s a player that we’ve been trying to get over the line for a couple of weeks.

Craig Hastings has also joined from West of Scotland First Division club Shotts (East Kilbride Thistle FC)

“We are happy with the names that we’ve managed to bring in this season.”

Meanwhile, EK Thistle produced an impressive performance in the 4-2 defeat to Troon on Saturday.

Zak Moynes and Jamie Longworth got on the scoresheet for O’Hanlon’s side and he was full of praise for the display.

“People will probably laugh but I thought we were outstanding,” O’Hanlon said.

“We performed exactly how I wanted us to and we were really good. We had loads of the ball and we played some superb stuff in the first half.

“In the second half, they scored two goals in the last five minutes. One was an outstanding free-kick and the fourth goal was a scorpion kick.

“He could’ve tried it one hundred times and never pulled it off!

“We aren’t going to win any trophies for playing the best football but we aren’t going to come up against any teams of Troon’s standard.”
