East Kilbride Hockey Club trio grab international recognition

A trio of East Kilbride Hockey Club players represented their country in Masters hockey’s Great Britain and Ireland 4 Nations tournament in Nottingham last month.

Sonya Andrews, (54, right) and 36-year-old Fiona Williamson (left) made their competitive debuts in the W55s and W35s, while Sheona Hutchison (centre, 46), turned out for the W45s squad.

Sheona was joined by fellow Strathaven woman Sally Hall, who plays for Glasgow High Kelvinside.

Each Scotland squad faced England, Wales and Ireland over three days between June 17 and 19.

Sonya’s age group will play the World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, between October 1-10, while Fiona’s W35s return to Nottingham for their big stage appearances between August 12-21.

There are a multitude of costs to be met for the pair to take part in high-level competition, however. To help, contact Sally on 07776 347267.
