East Belfast man on surviving against the odds and living with a stoma bag at 28

A man from East Belfast has opened up about how getting a stoma bag when he was born saved his life, and how he's never let it hold him back.

Luke Bolton, 28, said when he was born his parents were told he wouldn't live longer than 24 hours. There was only one option to give him a chance of survival, which was for him to go through surgery when he was two days old that would create an opening for a stoma which would result in him having a colostomy bag.

He said the surgery gave him a second chance at life and so Luke lives each day to the fullest, keen to experience as much as he can.
