East Ayrshire Council have had to fork out almost £100,000 to repair a Newmilns railway bridge for which it didn’t know it was responsible.
A new report revealed that the cost of work at the former bridge at Stoneygate Road had increased by more than 160 percent, rising from an original £38,000 to £99,000.
It was one of three bridge repair contracts which increased by more than 10 percent.
