December arabica coffee (KCZ25) on Thursday closed down -10.70 (-2.54%), and November ICE robusta coffee (RMX25) closed down -185 (-3.90%).
Coffee prices gave up an early rally on Thursday and sold off sharply, with arabica falling from an 8.5-month nearest-futures high and robusta falling from a 5-week high. Arabica coffee retreated after Climatempo forecast weekend showers for Brazil's coffee-growing regions. Robusta coffee slumped on Thursday after Vietnam's weather office lowered the likelihood of heavy rains from Tropical Storm Fengshen in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's main coffee-producing region, reducing the risk of crop damage.
