Earth Day celebrates its 55th birthday today. Since 1970, April 22 has become a day to reflect on the environment, and for people to share their concerns for the planet. Founded by a US senator, Earth Day has grown into a global phenomenon – with over a billion people expected to be engaged with the day across 190 countries.
This year the theme for the Day is Our Power, Our Planet - with a plea that we all unite around renewable energy so we can triple clean electricity by 2030 - you can find out more about how you can get involved on the Earth Day website.
