Leukemia is the most common cause of death in children among all types of cancer in India. Blood cancer in children is both a rare and a serious condition that requires early diagnosis for better treatment outcomes and improved survival rates. Every year, in India, more than 30,000 children are diagnosed with blood cancer, and more than 90,000 children live with blood cancer. While adult cancer is often linked to lifestyle or environmental factors, childhood blood cancers are most likely due to mutations or unknown causes hence, it calls for creating more awareness of early warning signs for timely diagnosis and interventions.
When diagnosed early and treated effectively the survival rate is more. On the other hand, when the diagnosis is delayed, the consequences of cancer often lead to spreading to different parts of the body. Treatment then becomes more challenging and less effective.
