Broadcaster Eamonn Holmes is in chronic pain and has revealed he is undergoing surgery. The former GMTV presenter, 62, said he had been having physio after he discovered he "mysteriously" dislocated his pelvis.
Earlier this year Eamonn shocked fans after sharing a picture of the after effects of alternative treatment cupping. He posted a message on social media timed at 1.30am, after spending days away from the GB News studio to report outside. It read "Hello all my #ChronicPain sufferers... I know [it's] not much help but it does help a little I feel to know we are not alone. Therefore from time to time I make these posts so some of you can share stories and just talk to someone who knows what you are going through."
He has previously said he's "been using a walking stick or crutch every day". Now it appears Eamonn is undergoing more serious action, reported Manchester Evening News. He was booked in for surgery on Wednesday (September 28). Explaining what the operation will entail, the veteran broadcaster said: "This week a surgeon will cut into my back to hopefully relieve pressure on my sciatic nerves.

"It’s an operation that carries a 20 percent risk of going wrong, but such is the pain and restrictions that I have been suffering for the past 18 months, I’ve decided it is a risk I am willing to take."
He then added in the Express : "I pray that God will guide my surgeon’s hand this week and help me get back to the man I used to be." Eamonn also spoke about why he reaches out to his large online following when he suffers more serious flare ups of his chronic pain.
"Last week, during another tough couple of nights, I reached out again and the response was just as overwhelming," he wrote in the publication. "It’s sad to think that so many are alone in their pain capsule. You can be surrounded by family and friends and yet the pain is exclusive to you. It is your companion."
Of the pain, he said: "It’s like living with the enemy," before later adding: "My heart breaks for my Twitter followers who tell me of their ills, often incurable, often with no hope whatsoever. That is the rest of their life. I only hope that it’s not the rest of my life."
Last year, when Eamonn joined Ruth and a special episode of Loose Women, his wife admitted to feeling 'helpless' as she watched her husband, and father of their son, Jack, suffer. "It's a long road but we know that and it's very difficult seeing him in pain, you feel helpless actually," she said at the time.
