Eamonn Holmes has snapped back at a GB News viewer who has accused him of 'persecuting' Phillip Schofield, after the presenter has been particularly vocal about his former colleague and the scandal surrounding This Morning in recent weeks.
Eamonn and wife Ruth Langsford were colleagues of Phillip's on This Morning for a number of years, famously being there live in the studio, minutes after the host came out as gay in early 2020 and gave an emotional interview to Holly Willoughby. Eamonn quit the show and ITV 18 months ago and, even before Phillip announced he was leaving This Morning last month, Eamonn took a swipe at him and Holly, saying they should have won a special acting accolade at the BAFTA TV awards having 'faked their friendship' for cameras.
And then, when Phillip released a bombshell statement confessing to an affair with a young This Morning runner a few weeks ago, Eamonn said that he and Ruth had been 'deceived' by their former co-star, adding: "Schofield has finally been caught out ... But he's not the only guilty party. 4 high members of Itv management knew what sort of man he was ...and NEVER once took action to prevent him controlling or taking advantage of his position over young people."

He then responded to a thinly veiled dig Phillip made on Instagram about people 'having a grudge' against him, branding his statement 'delusional' and tweeting: "I'm reluctant to give the liar any more publicity but believe me Pip if u r looking for a fight , u have picked on the wrong person!"
This week, Eamonn took to Instagram to appeal to fans to vote for GB News Breakfast, which he presents with Isabel Webster, to win a TV award, writing that 'it didn't get any more real' than them. However, definitely not giving Eamonn their backing, one user replied: "I’m really disappointed too in the recent behaviour and unnecessary comments. Contributing to the persecution of another person, I Don’t feel a vote is really deserved at the minute. Shame for Isabelle though."
Directly replying to the comment, Eamonn commented: " I'm sorry u have difficulty in understanding who was persecuted," as others had their say.
