Eamonn Holmes shares sad admission over son's wedding photos he says he 'spoilt'

Eamonn Holmes has said he can't bear to look at photos from his son's wedding as he feels he 'spoilt' them.

The former This Morning star was suffering from shingles at the time his son Declan married his now-wife, Jenny.

According to the NHS, Shingles is an infection that causes a painful rash and is by the same virus that causes chickenpox.

Eamonn, 62, was speaking on Steph's Packed Lunch about his 40 years as a broadcaster as well as his plans to spread awareness of shingles.

Speaking to the Channel 4 show's host, Steph McGovern, the GB News presenter said: "I woke up with it, I looked in the mirror - and there it was like Quasimodo looking back at me.

"Those blisters, especially around my eyes, are particularly dangerous because if it impacts on your optic nerve, it could be really serious. It was quite scary.

He added that the "timing was absolutely horrendous" due to it being his son's wedding.

"My eldest son was getting married and he was the first of my children to get married and so far the only one of my children to be married," Eamonn explained.

“My face was like this. It was absolutely awful I had to be in all of the pictures, I’m the father of the groom.

"I got a makeup artist to try and cover it up but to no avail, it wasn’t good.

"To this day Steph, I can’t look at Declan and Jenny’s wedding pictures.

Eamonn also took to Instagram with a picture of himself, showing his swollen eye and red rash.

He has teamed up with GSK [GlaxoSmithKline] to urge people to be aware of shingles during Shingles Awareness Week.
