Eamonn Holmes shared a health update with fans after his stroke - as sources revealed whether he will hold onto his job at GB News.
The GB News presenter, 66, is currently recovering from the stroke after being hospitalised in April.
He is reportedly receiving round-the-clock care and being looked after constantly by his girlfriend Katie Alexander, 44.
Holmes was unable to attend the TRIC awards earlier this week due to his health issues, although his colleague Anne Diamond gave him an emotional shout-out onstage as GB News won Best News Programme.
She said he is “doing well. He’s recovering and we’re all hoping he’ll be back very soon”.
Now, Holmes has given an insight into his condition while acknowledging the award, saying: “I'd just like to say a huge thank you to all the viewers who took the time and trouble to vote.”
He went on: “To win for the fourth time in a row is unbelievable, and I'm so proud to be a part of Britain's number one news channel.
“I'd dearly wished I could have been there to celebrate with the team, but for now my focus has to be on making a full recovery and getting back to my best.”
He added: “I'd also like to thank everyone who has sent their kind get-well messages. They really do mean the world to me.”
It comes as sources revealed he will be returning to GB News when he has recovered.
“Eamonn is one of the channel’s most popular presenters. I can categorically say he will be coming back, and any suggestion otherwise is wrong,” an insider told The Sun.
“For now, Eamonn is being given the time to heal. He’s been through a lot and needs this time to recover.
“Once he’s back on his feet, he’ll be welcomed back with open arms.”
Holmes - who presents the breakfast show alongside Ellie Costello – hasn’t appeared on the programme since March.
He had been due to return in April before he suffered a stroke.
Holmes was hospitalised after he was reportedly found “slumped and out cold” at his home.
“He is currently responding well to treatment. Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better,” GB News said at the time.
“His colleagues and everyone at GB News wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the people’s channel when he is ready to return.”
His son Declan - who Holmes shares with ex-wife Gabrielle Holmes - said the stroke came as a “real shock”.
“I just wanted to share a quick message to say we hugely appreciate all the messages, it means a lot to us as a family,” he penned on Instagram.
“What happened came as a real shock, but Dad is doing okay given the circumstances and we're taking it one step at a time.
“For now, we're focused on him and keeping things steady around him.”
Holmes shared a message from his hospital bed in April, posting a photo of his two granddaughters with a handmade “Get well soom[sic]” card for him.
He captioned the post: “As my beautiful Granddaughters put it so well - I will do my best to get well SOOM.
“Thank you for all of your many many good wishes, they give me strength.”
Holmes underwent a double hip replacement in 2016. Five years later, he suffered three slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis.
The presenter later had spinal surgery and his ongoing mobility issues mean he now often uses a walker or wheelchair.
