Eamonn Holmes has asked fans to 'wish him well' as he was seen learning to walk again amid his gruelling recovery. The GB News star has been keeping his loyal followers updated with his health woes and his progress for years after first speaking out about his chronic pain battle.
Eamonn, 63, has been suffering from chronic pain for a number of years - which he discovered was being caused by a dislocated pelvis and a trapped sciatic nerve- and has described his struggles over the past few years as 'soul-destroying'. He has often been seen using walking aides, including on the red carpet, and was spotted last month being pushed by his son in a wheelchair as he watched Manchester United win the Carabao Cup.
But the This Morning star has been open and honest with his struggles and is regularly offered support by his celebrity pals and fans, especially since undergoing surgery on his back in September last year before his recovery was quickly stunted by a fall at home in which he fractured his shoulder.
On Wednesday (March 15), Eamonn shared an image of himself to Instagram in which he could be seen strapped into a harness as he attended his latest rehab session. "Learning to walk with purpose today," he typed alongside the image.
He then emotionally added: "Gosh I'm trying so hard. The harness gives me more confidence than I have. Wish me well." Carol Vorderman was among the first to respond to the post, writing: "Oh gosh Eamonn. Sending hugest love and strength."
Presenter Lucy Alexander also commented: "I used to get kitty in the harness - this is GREAT !!! C’mon E you can do it. Super proud." S Club 7 star Jo O'Mera, who Eamonn has credited for her helping him amid her own struggles with her back, said: "Sending lots of love eammon."
Reality TV star Vicky Pattison posted: "Sending you so much love you wonderful man." Presenter Julia Bradbury replied: "Keep going Eamon. You've got this." Singer and theatre star Alexandra Burke shared: "Sending you love and strength my darling. Thinking of you!"
It comes after Eamonn shared a determined snap of himself in the boxing ring as part of his bid to recover from his op. "Today it was boxing to build balance and core strength. Road to recovery," he wrote earlier this week.
Wife Ruth Langsford showed her support to her husband, penning: "Go Rocky!" in the comments. And Michelle Keegan was also among the famous faces encouraging the TV star along, writing: "Go on Eamonn."
Previously speaking to Loose Women star Kaye Adams on her How To Be 60 podcast, Eamonn opened up about his issues and shared the 'most awful thing' about his health woes. "You're inhibited playing with the dog, you're inhibited playing with your grandchild, you're inhibited just socialising," he said. But also, the most awful thing is just being dependent on other people and what that does to you."
He later added: "You know, my legs don’t support me at the minute. Hopefully, it will get better and things will change, but I’m envious now of people with really good health because it’s like that or nothing."
