Eamonn Holmes has given fans more information on the fall that left him with a broken shoulder following major surgery on his back.
The GB News breakfast host made his long-awaited comeback on screens on Monday morning after a tumultuous few months which saw him battle health problems and lose his beloved mum.
Former This Morning presenter Eamonn has been absent from work since September, when he underwent an operation to help finally cure his issues with chronic pain.
But, as we reported last week, Eamonn faced a second round of surgery shortly after the first, after he fractured his shoulder when he fell at home.
Ahead of Eammon’s return to GMB today alongside colleague Isabel Webster, MEN reports he said in a video posted to social media: "Hello there, everybody. Just to say, after nearly four months away off the telly, I'm back tomorrow. Sounds like a threat, doesn't it?
"You may or may not be aware of what happened to me. I got some back surgery, I’ve had disc problems for a year and a half or so, and then got some back surgery, which affected one of my legs, which led to me falling downstairs, led to me breaking my shoulder. So I had a leg that didn't work and a shoulder that didn't work, and lots of other things in between.
"But here I am. I feel that there are only so many box sets that I can watch or recommend to you, and I'm not better, but I'm better than I was. And I've decided to make an attempt to go back to work on GB News from tomorrow on the basis that work, hopefully will heal me. Any of you who are long-term sick or in any way convalescing, particularly at home, will know that there's a lot of frustration involved in it.
"And for me, I think I'm going to give it a go, be back to work, and hopefully get better as a result of doing day-to-day things. Now, on a day-to-day basis, all I need is you to be there."
During his first episode back, Isabel read comments from viewers sharing their delight but as one asked Eamonn about 'what is wrong with him', he said with an exasperated laugh: "I can't walk." He went on to say that everything from the waist up 'works' but it's his legs that don't.
Isabel then suggested his operation has 'set him back for the moment', to which Eamonn replied: "It's set me back and made me fall down the stairs. I fell down 18 stairs." His co-host replied: "You shouldn't have been climbing the stairs," but Eamonn was quick to correct her after she made an error when welcoming her co-star back.
"What am I supposed to do? How do I get to bed? I fell down the spiral staircase and smashed my left shoulder... The first thing you did was lean on my shoulder." As Isabel giggled she said: "Sorry, I did. I won't be doing that again or he'll be off for another four months. Sorry about that."
Eamonn's return to work came after he issued a "soul destroying" health update last week.
The TV presenter took to social media to provide a bit more information following a round of physio after suffering the fall.
The former Sky News anchor has battled chronic pain for many years after being diagnosed with a problem with his pelvis.
He then received the sad news that his beloved mum, Josie, had died and he'd be unable to travel home to Northern Ireland because of the medical orders to stay put. Eammon’s wife Ruth Langsford attended the funeral in his place while the star watched a live feed from home.
