Eamonn Holmes has opened up about the 'hellish' time he has been having after suffering a fall during his recovery from surgery in a bid to relieve his chronic pain. The former This Morning host has been suffering with the discomfort for years and only discovered why last year after speaking out on his health issues.
Following an MRI scan, Eamonn discovered that his pain began when he "mysteriously" dislocated his pelvis. Despite undergoing physio, the GB News star was left using a walking aide or crutches.
But in September, Eamonn revealed he was to take further action in combating his chronic pain battle. on the day before his planned operation, Eamonn explained what the operation will entail and revealed that the surgery came with a "20 percent risk of going wrong." He added: "but such is the pain and restrictions that I have been suffering for the past 18 months, I’ve decided it is a risk I am willing to take."

A week on from his surgery, at the start of October, Eamonn appeared back on GB News live from his Surrey home he shares with his fellow TV star wife Ruth Langsford and offered an update to viewers and his GB News Breakfast co-host Isabel Webster. "I’m one week on, it is early days. It will probably be about three weeks before they know whether it has been a success or not," he said.
However, it has since been confirmed that the 62-year-old suffered a fall during his recovery and had to undergo a second surgery after the accident left him with a fractured shoulder. Eamonn is now receiving rehabilitative treatment for his injuries, and doctors have ordered him to rest for at least eight weeks.
Eamonn has now offered a fresh update, sharing how he fell down the stairs and that he is now "going through hell" with a fractured shoulder while recovering from a back operation. He told GB News: "Last month I suffered a fall at home while I was recovering from my back operation and fractured my shoulder.
"It was a massive setback and means I'm going to need to take some extra time off to get myself better. It's been a hellish few weeks, but day by day I'm improving and I am remaining positive and trying to look on the bright side. I can't wait to get back to work at GB News and do what I love most, presenting the news and discussing the issues of the day alongside Isabel with our wonderful viewers and listeners."
He also thanked his fans for their "lovely messages" which have "kept him going" during the difficult time. He added: "One thing I've noticed is just how many other people out there are suffering from chronic pain, and I am determined to keep speaking up on their behalf.
"Also, I really must say a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nursing staff who have been looking after me. They all are amazing. God bless." His GB News Breakfast co-host Isabel also shared her upset at seeing her co-star and friend suffering. She said: "I know how much our audience is missing Eamonn, and I am too.
"It has been heartbreaking to see him in so much pain. Eamonn has had such a run of bad luck, and to suffer in the way he has been. But I also know how hard he is working to get back to his best. I can’t wait to see him return, fighting fit, and back where he belongs - sitting alongside me on GB News."
