Eamonn Holmes launches brutal attack on Phillip Schofield as he leaves ITV

Eamonn Holmes opened up in an interview with GB News about the latest revelation that emerged with Phillip Schofield leaving ITV. Schofield announced he would be leaving This Morning after 20 years at the helm and has admitted to having an affair with a younger colleague.

GB News breakfast show host Eamonn Holmes opened up about the latest revelation, reports The Express. He did not hold back when he said: "In this life, I have always believed that a lie challenged becomes the truth.

"So although I don't want to stand up to Schofield constantly pointing out where he is lying, I feel I have to. Is he delusional?

"Does he imagine... or is he so detached from real life at This Morning that he didn't realise what was going on? I often say this to Ruth, maybe he believes all this stuff. But he is the chief narcissist, he is a complete and utter dyed-in-the-wool narcissist.

"Everything is about him, and last week when he issued a statement, which we the press are guilty of reporting, and accepting, where he said 'I have decided to step back'..." Scoffing with laughter, Eamonn continued: "Honestly, it makes me laugh... like heck he has."

ITV confirmed it did investigate rumours of a relationship between Phillip and an employee in 2020. An ITV spokesman told Express.co.uk on Saturday: "Further to our statement last night, ITV can confirm that when rumours of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and an employee of ITV first began to circulate in early 2020 ITV investigated.

"Both parties were questioned and both categorically and repeatedly denied the rumours as did Phillip's then agency YMU. In addition, ITV spoke to a number of people who worked on This Morning and were not provided with and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour.

"Phillip’s statement yesterday reveals that he lied to people at ITV, from senior management to fellow presenters, to YMU, to the media and to others over this relationship." It came after the broadcaster said it was "deeply disappointed by the admissions of deceit" made by Phillip on his social media pages.

"The relationships we have with those we work with are based on trust. Philip made assurances to us which he now acknowledges were untrue and we feel badly let down," a spokesman said on Friday evening. “We accept his resignation from ITV and therefore can confirm that he will not be appearing on ITV as had previously been stated.”
