Eamonn Holmes has defended Rylan Clark after he was accused of pulling “sickies".
TV and radio presenter Rylan had previously told his followers how he was in bed for days with the flu, unable to go on air, later adding how he had an extended trip to the hospital and would remain off work to rest.
The 33-year-old returned to work on The One Show and BBC Radio 2 last week.
In a tweet, which has since been deleted, one user said: "Never been a fan of @EamonnHolmes but sadly our TV and radio shows are loaded with presenters like him, who openly admit to having no talent or opinions and wonder why they're in their well-paid jobs.
"At least @piersmorgan has an opinion. Also growing weary of @Rylan's 'sickies.'"
Rylan replied: "Sickies? I was ill?"
Belfast man Eamonn added: "Rylan, I was going to challenge this stupid ignoramus.... decided not to but because he has annoyed you he has annoyed me more. I know how truly ill you have been... I just hope he never catches one of your "Sickies"
"Stay well my friend x"
Rylan has previously called Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford his TV mum and dad, telling OK! magazine last year how much the couple have helped him.
He said: "In this industry, everyone's so quick to jump on someone when they've done something wrong or f***** up on-air or whatever, but actually not many people tell you when you've done something right.
"I know that sounds strange and I'm not sitting here saying I need to be told I'm doing a good job, but Ruth and Eamonn were always the first two people to either text me or come up to me and say, 'What you did there was brilliant, the way you handled that situation'."
He added how grateful was for their friendship.
Rylan continued: "They were always the first two to go, 'God you did such a great job on that last night, I watching you and God, you handled that interview really well.'
"That always sticks with me because it's so nice when people help in this industry.
"There's a lot of b*****ness and jealousy with certain people, a lot of fake friendships I'm sure of, but I've never really been involved in all of that.
"I'm just grateful to do what I do, but Ruth and Eamonn, they're very happy for me which is lovely, it's nice for someone to be happy for you."
