Eamonn Holmes 'being eyed by reality TV series for meaty six-figure sum' following Ruth Langsford split

Eamonn Holmes is reportedly in talks for the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.

The veteran broadcaster, 64, is said to be “top of the ITV show’s wish list’ with show bosses prepared to offer “a meaty six-figure sum” of “around £250,000” to secure him.

While the Northern Ireland native has previously turned down offers to take part in the reality TV series, saying in 2018 “I don’t need the money,” his recent change of circumstances could sway him.

The GB News star has been struggling with ill-health for years following a double-hip replacement in 2016 and back surgery last year which he said went “wrong”. He was recently pictured walking with a frame.

Last month he split from wife Ruth Langsford, 64, and is still smarting from being forced to sell his Belfast home to pay a reported £250,000 tax bill.

A source told The Sun said: “Celebrity Big Brother bookers are drawing up a wish list of contestants and Eamonn is on it. They would love for him to take part as he’d be such a popular housemate.

“Eamonn’s health concerns are something they would take into account and, when they package up an offer, they would make assurances to him that he would be looked after in the house.

The Standard has contacted a representative for Celebrity Big Brother for comment.

Celebrity Big Brother returned to screens in March on its new home of ITV following a five-year absence.

It was won by reality TV star David Potts, who reached the final alongside Strictly Come Dancing star Nikita Kuzmin and Coronation Street's Colson Smith.

Other big names who took part included music moguls Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne, plus, TV presenter Fern Britton.
