Buddies striker Eamonn Brophy believes a tough pre-season under Stephen Robinson’s watch will help boost his goal tally.
The former Killie hitman struggled for consistency during St Mirren’s last campaign but still finished as joint top goalscorer alongside Connor Ronan with eight strikes.
The one-time Scotland cap feels a gruelling pre-season, which will include a training camp in Belfast and clashes against Northern Ireland Premiership sides Linfield and Crusaders, will do him the world of good as he looks to notch double figures again next season.
Brophy told Express Sport: “Pre-season is massively important. Hopefully I can come back and hit the ground running.
“I know for a fact it will be hard, but hopefully after that I can get a run of games.
“I’ve been back in and back out. If I get a full season I believe I can score goals at this level.
“I just need to get that run of games under my belt.
“Last season was not what I hoped for. Again it’s been very stop-start.
“I finished on eight goals and would have liked to get a lot more.
“It’s not been a terrible season, but I certainly want to push on next season and do a lot better.”
