A young woman has appeared in court accused of stabbing her mother more than 30 times with a knife.

Hanna Bennis, 21, is charged with the murder of 58-year-old dinner lady Aziza Bennis at a home in west London.

Police forced entry to the property in Boddington Gardens, Ealing, after her neighbours heard screaming coming from the property at 3.40pm on Monday.

Officers found the victim lying on the floor of the living room having suffered from multiple stab wounds.

The defendant was arrested and charged with murder on Wednesday.

A post-mortem examination found Ms Bennis’s cause of death to be multiple stab injuries.

She had sustained more than 30 wounds, with the fatal injury to the right thigh.

On Friday, Bennis appeared at the Old Bailey by video link from Bronzefield prison.

She confirmed her identity before Judge Philip Katz set a timetable for the case.

A plea hearing was set for November 4 with a provisional, two-week trial from July 31 next year.

The defendant, from Ealing, was remanded into custody.
