The Arizona Cardinals have lost cornerback Byron Murphy in free agency and only have two players under contract at the position. A good one is going to hit the market.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles will release cornerback Darius Slay.
New Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon coached Slay the last two seasons. Under Gannon, Slay made the Pro Bowl twice.
He had three interceptions each of the last two seasons.
Slay is 32 years old and won’t be cheap but he would bring high level of play and familiarity with the defense.
Thus far, there are no reports that the Cardinals are targeting him, but he would be a perfect fit.
