The Shane Steichen era in Philadelphia appears ready to end at some point in the next few hours, as Adam Schefter is reporting that the Eagles offensive coordinator will become the next head coach of the Colts.
If the reports hold true, Steichen will lead a team that has weapons at wide receiver with Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce.
At running back, Jonathan Taylor is a top-five player, while Quenton Nelson is a top offensive lineman defensively, the Colts have talent in Kwity Paye, DeForest Buckner, and Shaquille Leonard just to name a few.
The Colts have $17.5M in cap space and hold the No. 4 overall pick in the upcoming draft, which could be former Ohio State star, C.J. Stroud.
Steichen has overseen the Eagles’ offensive explosion since taking over play-calling duties during the 2021 season and has a good reputation for a run-centric approach to the offense while helping develop Chargers star signal caller, Justin Herbert.
Steichen has been at the helm of Jalen Hurts’ MVP candidacy, Miles Sanders logging his first 1,000-yard rushing season, along with two 1,000-yard receivers in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
