Eagles legend joins esteemed college sports communication program

Philadelphia Eagles legend and 94.1 WIP color commentator Mike Quick will join Rowan University’s Center for Sports Communication and Social Impact program as a guest lecturer.

Rowan University currently celebrates its 100th anniversary, and it only gets better when a former Philadelphia Eagle shows up to the classroom.

The program director and former Philadelphia sports anchor, Neil Hartman, broke the news on LinkedIn.

This comes as the sports media program frequently works with the Delaware Blue Coats, Wilmington Blue Rocks, and other sports teams in the area to allow students to explore jobs in the sports industry.

Students flock to Philadelphia pro and minor league teams during their studies or after graduation. This sparked the inspiration to have a “History of Sports in Philadelphia” class for students to learn more about the City of Brotherly Love’s sports scene. But now, they’ll learn firsthand about the history through Quick’s experiences on the team and in the city.

“Excited to welcome my friend Mike Quick to the Rowan University community. Mike joins Ruben Amaro, Jr. as a Professional-in-Residence in our Sports Communication and Media program.” Hartman said in the LinkedIn post.

Quick will be a guest lecturer for two courses: Inside the Front Office and History of Sport in Philadelphia. He was a five-time Pro Bowler in his nine-season run with the Philadelphia Eagles as a wide receiver. He has been the radio color analyst for the team, alongside play-by-play legend Merrill Reese, since 1998.
