Eagles’ CB Darius Slay is tired of playing defense, wants to catch passes from Jalen Hurts instead

Undoubtedly the biggest reason the 12-1 Philadelphia Eagles have become the NFL’s best team is the ascendance of Jalen Hurts. In his third NFL season, the young signal-caller has blossomed into a multifaceted bona fide game-changer who can cut up defenses with his arm and legs. By the end of the year, depending on how matters break his way, Hurts might even win his first career MVP.

One person who has been there every step of the way through Hurts’ NFL growth is Philadelphia star cornerback Darius Slay. As the Eagles near the postseason, Slay hilariously made clear he’d actually love to catch some passes from Hurts as a receiver after watching the QB drop dimes:

Incredible. When a corner of Slay’s top-tier caliber (he will likely qualify for his fifth career Pro Bowl this season) is praising a quarterback, regardless of whether he’s his teammate — you know Hurts has truly made it.

Hurts’ Eagles travel to play the Chicago Bears and one of the NFL’s worst defenses by several metrics this Sunday. In what will probably be another big game for Hurts all around — especially through the air — maybe Slay can get his “wish” as a receiver fill-in once the Eagles have a very comfortable lead.
