Leonard joins a linebacker corps decimated by injuries: Nakobe Dean is on Injured Reserve with a foot injury, and Zach Cunningham missed Sunday’s game against the 49ers because of a hamstring injury.
Signed Shaquille Leonard to the active roster
The Eagles have officially signed linebacker Shaquille Leonard to the active roster after agreeing to terms with the free agent on Monday.
The linebacker was waived by the Indianapolis Colts earlier this season after spending his first six seasons with the franchise. In nine games with the Colts this season, Leonard recorded 65 tackles.
In 68 career games, the 28-year-old has 614 tackles, 17 forced fumbles, 15 sacks, and 12 interceptions.
Waived Christian Elliss from the active roster
The Elliss experiment at linebacker is over, as Philadelphia waived the special teams standout after signing Shaquille Leonard to the roster.
In 12 games this season, Elliss has 16 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one quarterback pressure. The 24-year-old made his first career start in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Elliss joined the organization in 2021 after being waived by the Minnesota Vikings. Elliss made 26 tackles in 19 games with the Eagles.
Signed Greg Ward to the practice squad
Ward is back after being released on November 30.
In 40 career games (13 starts), the former college quarterback registered 88 receptions for 768 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2020, Ward led the team in receptions (53) and receiving touchdowns (6).
Released Cam Sims from the practice squad
Sims was signed on November 30.
Sims played in 55 games (17 starts), all with the Washington Commanders. He recorded 57 receptions for 804 yards and three touchdowns in his six-year career.
Closed Justin Evans' 21-day practice window
Evans season is over after the 21-day practice window for the veteran safety came to a close. He will remain on Injured Reserve for the rest of the season.
Evans has not played since Week 5, a win over the Los Angeles Rams.
In four games this season, Evans recorded 14 tackles, two pass defenses, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
