Eagles announce 4 roster moves ahead of preseason opener

The Eagles are returning to practice on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s preseason opener, and the team announced four roster moves.

After suffering a calf injury during the conditioning test, Devon Allen has been activated to the 90-man roster.

The team signed wide receiver Johnny King, along with released undrafted offensive tackles Chim Okorafor and Trevor Reid.

After spending the offseason competing in the 110M hurdles, Allen was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury List.

Allen offers world-class speed and he’ll look to carve out a role on special teams.

Johnny King

King, 6-5, 209 pounds, was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent in May.

King appeared in 36 combined games (31 starts) at Southeast Missouri State (2020-22) and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (2019) and registered 142 receptions for 1,836 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Chim Okorafor

The NAIA standout participated in the Eagles’ rookie minicamp and performed well enough to warrant a practice squad spot.

He played two seasons of basketball at Cal Poly Pomona, then transferred to Riverside City Community College in 2019, Missouri Southern in 2020, and Pitt State after that. He landed in Kansas at Benedictine for the 2022 season, playing three games.

A raw but talented athlete, the 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive line offers intriguing size as a developmental prospect and could return to the practice squad.

Trevor Reid

Louisville offensive lineman Trevor Reid reacts against UCF during the first half Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, in Orlando, Florida.

Josh Sills made the Eagles’ 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent in 2022, and the idea was that Reid could do the same.

The 6-foot-5, 307-pound offensive tackle made 12 appearances with 11 starts in 2022, helping the Louisville Cardinals average 200.6 rushing yards per game for the 23rd-ranked rushing offense in the FBS.

Reid played 628 total snaps last season, almost exclusively at left tackle; he allowed only three sacks, two quarterback hits, and eight quarterbacks hurries in 314 pass block snaps and posted a Pro Football Focus grade of 60.9.
