A leaker has reportedly revealed the new names for FIFA Ultimate Team and FIFA Points in EA Sports FC as part of EA Sports' rebrand of the game mode.
We've known for over a year that EA will be launching a brand-new football game called EA Sports FC this year, which will replace their popular FIFA series after the publisher and FIFA went their separate ways following 30 years of partnership. As of now, few details regarding the EA FC 24 have been confirmed by EA, with the official game logo as well as the game title being the only set-in-stone details.
One topic which has been discussed within the FIFA Community thoroughly is what will happen to current game modes like Ultimate Team, and a leaker on social media has 'leaked' the new names for Ultimate Team, as well as the in-game currency currently known as FIFA Points. We've already seen a bunch of leaks regarding what to expect from Ultimate Team following FIFA 23's conclusion including a new card design, women players and ICONs featuring in Ultimate Team and much more.
We have an idea that the game will be released in autumn based on past FIFA releases, whilst Mirror Gaming exclusively spoke with EA Sports FC VP of Brand David Jackson earlier this year where it was revealed we would get more news regarding EA FC in July.
Here's the latest leak, this time regarding the new name for the Ultimate Team game mode.
FIFA Ultimate Team and FIFA Points new names for EA Sports FC leaked
The leaks were revealed by reliable leaker @FIFAUTeam, a source that has 'leaked' a handful of other EA FC news over the past few months. The leaker posted a screenshot of what looks like an official EA Sports FC graphic, with the new names for FIFA Ultimate Team and FIFA Points included.
According to the photo, the new name for FIFA Ultimate Team will be 'Football Ultimate Team', whilst FIFA Points will be rebranded to 'FC Points', both very logical and expected updates. As of now, nothing has been confirmed by EA, so this may not be true when we find out later this year.
With FIFA Ultimate Team supposedly changing to Football Ultimate Team, this means the well-known abbreviation of 'FUT' looks likely to remain. If true, it makes sense for EA to try and keep the abbreviation the same to save them the hassle of having to change their social handles which include FUT.
