Ultimate Team is set for a major revamp in EA Sports' new upcoming football game EA FC 24, and leaks suggest we will be getting a new-look card design.
It was confirmed just under a year ago that the EA Sports' FIFA franchise would be no more following the conclusion of FIFA 23, with the two going their separate ways after a 30-year partnership. Instead, EA confirmed it will be making a brand-new football game series – EA Sports FC – which is set to be released later this year with the first iteraion, EA FC 24.
EA recently confirmed the official logo for FC as well as announcing that more information will be revealed in July, meaning as of now, all we know for certain is the logo and that EA has retained its 300-plus license partners. But, some information regarding Ultimate Team has reportedly been 'leaked' on social media ahead of the game's unveiling, including a brand-new card design for Ultimate Team cards.
EA FC 24 leaked Ultimate Team card design
The source of the Ultimate Team card design comes from none other than @FutSheriff, with the reliable leaker posting the card design from his backup account, @fsheriff_backup. In the post, the leaker claims that the EA FC 24 card design is what the design should look like, and the card that was posted is just a concept.
As you can see, the card looks completely different from the current FIFA 23 card design and completely different from any card designs we've seen in Ultimate Team before. The brand-new layout will see the player's image take up the majority of the card, with the stats, nation and club all located at the very bottom of the card.
The 'leaked' design has certainly split opinions in the Ultimate Team community, with some liking the shake-up, whilst others have bashed the concept. Personally, I think it looks very similar to the type of cards you would get in a mobile football game, and that isn't a big compliment.
If this was the official card design, I'm sure it would grow on me, especially if promo cards could use the giant player space to show off some cool dynamic images. I can also understand why EA may be looking at such a drastic change to the card design, with FC looking to establish itself as its own game, not some FIFA spin-off.
@FutSheriff has also announced some other leaks for UT in FC, including the addition of women in Ultimate Team. This would also include women's Icons, and it looks likely that they will be added to Ultimate Team rather than given a separate women's mode.
