With the 2022/23 season hurling towards its conclusion, we're starting to get an idea of who could be crowned the best player in EA Sports FC.
Throughout the FIFA series, one of the most-anticipated releases in the build-up to a new title's release is the player ratings, with fans desperate to know who got big upgrades to their rating, big downgrades to their rating, and who are the best players in the game. In FIFA 23, there was a five-way tie for the highest-rated player, with Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, Karim Benzema, Kevin De Bruyne and Kylian Mbappe all rated 91 overall.
We don't expect the rating system to change in EA Sports FC, though we do expect a shift in ratings at the top. EA FC 24 is EA Sports ' brand-new football game, replacing their long-lasting FIFA series after the publisher and FIFA put an end to their three-decade-long partnership.
FC is expected to be released in a few months' time, most likely around a similar time the domestic season restarts in real life for the 2023/24 season. We know little information regarding the new game right now, but leaks on social media suggest we could see some big changes, including a name-change of the Ultimate Team game mode to " Football Ultimate Team " (FUT), whilst there's also set to be a brand-new card design.
So, who do we think will be the best players in FC when the new game is released? Here are the 10 players we expect to have the highest overall ratings in EA Sports FC.
EA Sports FC: 10 highest-rated players
Similarly to FIFA 23, we predict that there won't be an outright highest-rated player, with four different players potentially set to share the number one spot in FC. Compared to the top 10 highest-rated players in FIFA 23, we expect Cristiano Ronaldo, Manuel Neuer and Virgil van Dijk to drop out, with three new players entering the list.
Lionel Messi (Paris Saint-Germain)
At 35 years old, Lionel Messi has had an incredible season for Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina, with the forward finally lifting the World Cup Trophy and all but securing another Ligue 1 trophy with PSG. Messi has 15 goals, 16 assists and averages the best rating per game in the league, so we expect the Argentine to remain at 91 overall and the joint-highest-rated player in EA FC.
Predicted EA FC Rating: 91 OVERALL (0)
Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)
Kylian Mbappe had an outstanding season for club and country, ending the World Cup as the tournament's top scorer as well as grabbing a hat-trick in the World Cup final. The Frenchman currently leads the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts with 28 goals, and when you add on the seven he grabbed in the Champions League and five in the Coupe de France, the 24-year-old has done more than enough to warrant a 91 overall rating.
Predicted EA FC Rating: 91 OVERALL (0)
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
As things stand, Manchester City are on track to potentially win the treble, and Kevin De Bruyne has been instrumental in that. The definition of a big game player, De Bruyne has 10 goals and 26 assists in all competitions, so we expect the Belgian international to remain the joint-best player in the game.
Predicted EA FC Rating: 91 OVERALL (0)
Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
A huge upgrade for Erling Haaland is expected after his tremendous first season with Man City, and we predict that the striker will see his rating increased by three overall, making him the joint-highest-rated player in EA FC. Haaland has scored 52 goals in 51 games at City, breaking countless goalscoring records including the most goals in a Premier League season.
Predicted EA FC Rating: 91 OVERALL (+3)
Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
If it wasn't for Haaland's incredible campaign, Kane would be getting much more of the spotlight, with the Englishman scoring 28 goals in the Premier League this season in an under-par Tottenham team. With teammates underperforming, Kane has made sure Spurs challenge for a spot in Europe alone, and this is deserving of an upgrade to his rating in EA FC.
Predicted EA FC Rating: 90 OVERALL (+1)
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (Barcelona)
Despite a drop in form since securing the La Liga title, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has reinstated himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, managing 25 clean sheets in the league so far as well as averaging the highest-save percentage in the league. In the first 30 league games of the season, Ter Stegen conceded just nine goals in the league, so we expect the 'keeper to receive a +2 rating.
Predicted EA FC Rating: 90 OVERALL (+2)
Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona)
In his first season with Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski has scored 33 goals in 44 games across all competitions, though it hasn't been at the level of his last few seasons with Bayern Munich, so we expect the striker to receive a -1 in his overall rating to 90. Still one of the world's best, but based on the season just gone, we don't think he will remain the joint-best in the game.
Predicted EA FC Rating: 90 OVERALL (-1)
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
Karim Benzema was given an upgrade to become one of the joint-best players in the game in FIFA 23 after winning the Ballon d'Or, but the Frenchman has failed to hit those heights in the season just gone, so we expect the striker to drop one rating to 90 overall. Just four goals in the Champions League compared to 15 the year before as well as a drop in La Liga goals warrants the minor downgrade.
Predicted EA FC Rating: 90 OVERALL (-1)
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Despite a slow start to the season that saw Liverpool struggle as a whole, Mohamed Salah has rediscovered his best form in the last few months, with the Egyptian currently on 29 goals and 14 assists in all competitions for the season. The forward has replicated his stats from last season, so we think this warrants the 30-year-old to remain at 90 overall.
Predicted EA FC Rating: 90 OVERALL (0)
Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid)
Despite Real Madrid missing out on the La Liga and Champions League titles this season, Thibaut Courtois has been a standout once again, with the Belgian making some incredible saves during the season. 10 clean sheets in the league and a 75% save percentage, we expect Courtois can maintain his 90 overall rating.
