Married At First Sight UK star Chanita Stephenson has officially declared herself single on social media after it was revealed she had split from Jordan Emmett-Connelly. The pair had become the golden couple of the E4 marriage experiment series and fans were sure they were set to go the distance.
They were seen renewing their vows during the final episodes of the 2022 series last week. But that wasn't really the end of the hit show as there was still a final dinner party to come and on Monday night (October 17), MAFS fans got to see the first part of the 20-strong reunion as the 10 couples, whether still together or not, came face-to-face once more.
And E4 viewers didn't have to wait long to discover the status of the remaining couples with a few shocking splits unveiled with only April and George and Zoe and Jenna still firmly in a seemingly happy relationship.
The biggest shock came when Chanita arrived to the reunion solo, with husband Jordan nowhere to be seen. Their co-stars gasped when they saw her arrive alone and she was soon shedding tears as she was left overwhelmed by arriving solo for the first time since walking down the aisle to marry Jordan.
"When we came out of the experiment, everything just changed," she started to tell Adrian, Gemma, and Kasia. "Basically, I kept saying ‘I feel like you’re not interested in me, you’re not making an effort, you’re not doing this’, and he’s all, ‘no, no, no, I can’t wait to see you’ - and then I was right!."
She then said: "And then he was like, 'oh, I don’t think we’re compatible, I don’t want to be with you' - it was really weird." Jordan then made an energetic appearance and it wasn't until later, in heartbreaking scenes, the former couple opened up about why their marriage hadn’t worked as they finally sat down to have a heart-to-heart.
Chanita ended up blasting Jordan for taking her to renew their vows if his "heart wasn't in it", insisting: "I was worth fighting for." In the end, Jordan embraced his crying ex and apologised for hurting her, and while their romantic relationship couldn’t be salvage, he hoped their confrontation could at least mend their friendship.
Taking to Instagram amid the episode airing, Chanita posted a series of glam snaps showing off her dinner party look. The former social worked looked stunning ain a figure-huggling, multi-coloured dress while her hair flowed in braids down her back. "Like Beyoncè once said.. Me Myself & I," she captioned the post.
And she got some unlikely support from Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha. "Good on you kiddo! Me and my fella thought he was punching all the way through," Nadia wrote. "Nice boy . But you need a proper grown up who adores you in the way you deserve!" Chanita was quick to reply: "Thankyou so much."
She also shared a message Nadia posted to her own Instagram Story. Sharing a photo of the former ride, the TV star and former EastEnders actress wrote: "@chanita__x what a woman! He was a sweetie but was punching with you! You were prefect at the dinner party! So authentic, smart and beautiful. Never settle for less... you are worth it."
