E*Thirteen has carved themselves a niche selling aftermarket drivetrain components like cranks, cassettes, and chainrings. They have now released an e-MTB version of their Helix Race E*spec cranks and chainrings.
The cranks are designed specifically for Bosch's CX and new lightweight SX motor but it will be compatible with all 24mm ISIS Drive spindle specced electric mountain bikes. That includes TQ HPR50, Brose, Yamaha, Maxon, and Specialized 2.2 motors.
The cranks are CNCed from forged AL-6066-T6 and have been machined to keep weight down. To balance ground clearance and crank leverage there are three short length options; 165mm, 160mm, and a very short 155mm. All cranks include a pair of molded crank boots to protect your crank arms.
The forged CNC 7075 alloy Helix Race E*spec direct mount chainring comes in 32t or 34t. E*Thirteen says that the tooth profile is compatible with Shimano, SRAM (including new T-Type chains), and TRP 11/12-speed drivetrains. The chainrings give a 53mm chain line, although a 55mm version will be available soon.
The cranks are claimed to weigh in at 413g for the 155mm, 431g for the 160mm, and 433g for the 165mm. E*Thirteen says that the chainrings hit the scales at 1053g for a 32t and 111g for the 34t.
There are two crank colors to pick from, either an all black or a bronze finish. The chainrings come in four colors and can either be paired with the crank's Black or Bronze color scheme, or there is an Eggplant and Naranja which can be matched with E*Thirteen's range of cassettes.
The cranks are priced at $219.95 / £199.95 / €229.95 and the chainring adds $81.95 / £74.95 / €85.95. For more details, head over to Ethirteen.com or if you want to see the new Helix Race gear in action (and watch the guys from E*Thirteen drink beer and eat pancakes), check out the video below.
