The government has urged local authorities across Britain to mandate that e-bike hire companies cover the costs of removing abandoned bicycles from pavements.
Transport minister Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill backed the proposal, agreeing with peers that councils should follow the example set by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
