Dylan McGeouch training with Livingston as ex Hibs and Celtic man keeps fitness up for next move

Dylan McGeouch has been keeping his fitness in check at Livingston as he continues his search for a new club.

The former Hibs and Celtic midfielder left Aberdeen at the end of last season but has yet to put pen to paper on his next move. He spent time training with Mansfield Town in England's League Two but as things stand he has still not found a new permanent home.

However, he is still getting that club feel and environment from David Martindale after the Lions boss offered him the use of facilities to get himself fit and firing. Former Celtic team-mate Leigh Griffiths has been doing the same following his short stint in Australia. The midfielder revealed his appreciation for the offer to train with Livingston and get himself in the best possible shape. Speaking on Open Goal, he said: "He [Martindale] got in contact with me a few weeks ago and offered me to come in and get training and use it for fitness which is good. I appreciate it. Hopefully, when I get a team I'm ready to go."

No talks over a permanent stay with Livingston have taken place with McGouch admitting in football things can change quickly, but at this moment he is focussing on getting fit and to impress Martindale.

He said: "To be honest, we've not really spoken about it. It was just about coming in and getting fit and see where I am.

"I don't know in football, you know things change and they might get a few injuries or whatever and he might change his opinion. But he was just letting me know that I can come in and get fit and then when I step in somewhere it will be good."

The 29-year-old is desperate for a return to the football scene after revealing he has rejected a couple of offers to get back in. He used Scott Allan as an example as he waits for his next big opportunity to present itself.

He added: "It's football. Scotty Allan was in the same situation. You think, 'he's had a good career and will just walk into clubs'.

"I've had a few offers but nothing that I'm jumping at so I've done the waiting game and now I'm at the stage where I need to get something sorted. I hope I get something sorted soon."
