Changes to the Universal Credit system come into effect this month. This could mean that thousands of claimants are put under pressure to find a job or boost their existing incomes.
Nottinghamshire Live has previously reported that roughly 114,000 people will be plunged into meeting the criteria for the Intensive Work Search regime. This means they will be moved from the "light touch" work group to "intensive work search". This month, those changes will come into force.
The change is designed to help those on low incomes boost their earnings with relevant support. But claimants will need to comply with agreed requirements, as has always been the case.
