Following a court decision, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that 57,000 benefit claimants will receive payouts totalling up to £5,000.
The payouts were first made public earlier this month following the DWP's settlement of a high court challenge that law firm Leigh Day had brought on behalf of more than 200 claimants. The Government promised to resolve the matter, and each petitioner received a damages award ranging from £200 to £3,000.
