DWP says man who has daily epileptic seizures is fit to work

A man who has daily epileptic seizures that he says make it impossible for him to continue working has hit out at the Department for Work and Pensions. Ryan Connelly said he was told by the DWP that he was fit to work, despite his deteriorating condition.

Ryan, 47, said he was assessed as having limited ability to work. He said the decision means he has received lower benefits than he should have over the past two-and-a-half years - meaning he has built up more than £2,500 of debt trying to get by, reports the Daily Record.

Ryan, from Dumbarton in Scotland, said: “I am getting pushed from pillar to post with my benefits because I don’t know how to work the system because I have worked all my days. When I finished up, I was on the sick for six months.
