People in the North East who receive tax credits will get their first Cost of Living Payment next month.
Around 1.1 million families who claim the benefit will get their £326 payment from September 2, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has confirmed. It will be paid automatically into eligible tax credit-only customers’ bank accounts between September 2 and September 7.
The first HMRC payments will total around £360 million. A second payment will be made to eligible customers from the winter.
