The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has introduced a new way to help those on State Pension claim additional support.
Pension Credit is a ‘passport’ benefit aimed at supporting people over State Pension age on a low income by providing on average up to £3,300 each year in financial support. It also acts as a ‘gateway’ to Council Tax, housing and NHS discounts along with free TV Licences for the over-75s..
It was recently confirmed new claims for Pension Credit made between new claims for Pension Credit made between April 1 and July 3, took an average of 40 days to process. The DWP has now introduced a a new interactive Pension Credit claim form which can be completed online, downloaded and posted to the Pension Service to help even more people aged over 66 access support - as The Daily Record reports.
