The Department for Work and Pensions has given an update on when the new £150 disability cost of living payment will be paid to around six million eligible people. The extra payment is for people with disabilities and is designed to help towards rising gas and electricity costs.
It will be paid despite the government's new Energy Price Guarantee capping bills at ab average £2,500 a year instead of the forecast £5,500 a year. And it comes on top of the £400 being given to every household in the country.
The extra £150 will begin to be paid from September 20, with the “vast majority” of those eligible expected to receive the cash by the beginning of October, according to the DWP.
