DWP claim double amputee who was left impaled on fence for days is 'fit for work'

A double amputee has revealed that the DWP believes he is not yet unfit for work despite being impaled upside down on a metal fence for days. Dale Whitehurst is still on the road to recovery nearly one year after losing his leg due to a horrific accident a Wolstanton Retail Park.

The 44-year-old stated that he is in agony '24/7' and suffers from phantom pains where his limbs originally were. Now, his "never-ending bad dream" has been made worse by growing financial problems.

While Dale believes he qualifies for Limited Capability for Work and Work-related activity (LCWRA), he states that the DWP is dragging its heels over declaring him unfit for work and is blaming the wait on a Covid backlog. Nearly a year after the accident, he is still waiting on a decision and is receiving a fresh 'fit note' every couple of months from his doctors to prove his situation hasn't changed.
