The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced a new update for millions of people due to receive the £150 disability cost of living payment. The Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Tom Pursglove MP, told MPs in the House of Commons on Tuesday that DWP plans to have made 99 per cent of payments to those already eligible by Monday, June 26.
More than six million people claiming disability benefits, including Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Adult Disability Payment and Attendance Allowance, will receive the lump sum directly into their bank account with no need to apply. It will appear on accounts and statements as a ‘Bank Giro Credit’ with the claimant’s National Insurance number followed by ‘DWP COL’.
Some 1.6m people received the money on Tuesday, June 20 - the first day of the payment window. Mr Pursglove also said that “most remaining already eligible people will receive their payment by 4 July”.
