Dwayne Johnson has been mocked online after the first trailer for Disney’s live-action Moana sparked debate over his appearance as Maui.
The two-minute trailer, released on Monday, offers fans their first proper look at the reimagined film, with newcomer Catherine Laga’aia taking on the title role of Moana. Johnson, 53, reprises his role as the shapeshifting demigod Maui, having previously voiced the character in the 2016 animated hit and its 2024 sequel.
