Wrestler. Actor. Director. Father. 2016 Sexiest Man Alive. Fanny Pack Enthusiast. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is expanding his repertoire by launching his own men's personal care brand, Papatui. The brand offers a range of skin, hair, body, and tattoo care products made with cleaner ingredients and a focus on performance, all priced under $10.
Papatui is set to debut in Target stores and on Target.com on March 10, with products already available on the brand's website. Johnson shared that the idea for the brand stemmed from his observations during conversations at the gym, where discussions about skincare were often held in private.
Johnson emphasized the importance of normalizing skincare for men and encouraging open conversations about grooming. He spent three years building a team and educating himself on clean ingredients and scent profiles to create a quality product that remains affordable.
The brand's name, Papatui, is a nod to Johnson's heritage and family. 'Papa' represents his role as a proud father of three daughters, while 'Tui' is a nickname from his Samoan grandfather, who inspired his grooming habits.
Johnson highlighted the unisex nature of Papatui products, mentioning that even his wife uses them. He also shared insights from his skincare journey, including advice from friend Emily Blunt on the benefits of using toner.
Papatui offers three signature scents – Coconut Lush, Sandalwood Suede, and Cedar Sport – developed in collaboration with renowned perfume maker Frank Voelkl. Johnson's passion for fragrances and grooming led to a unique feature on the product packaging that allows customers to smell the scents before purchase.
In addition to skincare products, Papatui includes a tattoo balm and stick made from mango butter and cocoa butter to protect and hydrate tattoos while providing a sheen without residue.
Johnson expressed his excitement for feedback from users and hinted at sharing the brand with fellow Sexiest Man Alive recipients, starting with Chris Evans. Papatui's accessibility and quality aim to cater to a wide audience seeking effective and affordable personal care solutions.
Papatui's official launch in Target stores and online on March 10 marks a significant milestone in Johnson's venture into the skincare industry, reflecting his commitment to promoting self-care and grooming for all.
